Starting a new job is exciting and you want to do the very best you can.

Without putting too fine a point on it; your role is very important because sponsorships and partnerships* are often one of the largest, if not the largest, income streams in any organisation. It is essential that the commercial program is run as efficiently and as close to best practice as possible.

That is why it is important that you don’t waste the first three months ‘getting your feet under the desk’. Instead, the first three months of a new sponsorship role is an excellent opportunity to quickly build on your predecessor’s good work, address any obvious inefficiencies that you find in the organisation, establish working relationships and re-set your own working life.

That’s why we wrote this book; to help you quickly settle in to your new role and make a real difference by focusing on the important things.

We’ve brought together our own experiences in starting new sponsorship roles, by looking back at what we did well and what we could have done better, but also our experiences in bringing on staff underneath us.
